In The Office by Michele Kennedy

I got a new motorcycle a couple of weeks ago. I know what you're thinking: mid-life crisis. When I hear the word "crisis" I think of chaotic pandemonium or mass panic. I guess there's such a thing as a personal crisis, but again, I associate that with severe anxiety. I think, more than anything, its just that I get a little bored and that causes me to actually do things that I've always thought about trying but never had time for before. That doesn't seem like a crisis to me, that seems like an adventure. So let's call it a "mid-life adventure"–not that I'm being defensive, mind you. Anyway, I had never driven a motorcycle before last year and some say, I still never have. I had a scooter last summer. It would go about 50 miles per hour and I drove it to work a couple of times. (Yes, they all made fun of me). I really enjoyed riding it and so I upgraded to an automatic motorcycle. It looks exactly like a motorcycle and goes about 65 miles per hour but its automatic, no clutches. So, I don't really fit in with a motorcycle gang or the scooter club. Do you know there really is a scooter club in St. Louis? Can you just imagine a convoy of brightly colored scooters frolicking down the boulevard? I picture them with sparkly tassels on the handlebars and neon flags flapping in the wind puttering by, one after another like a Stepford Wives parade. That image cracks me up. I don't think I could join the scooter club for a couple of reasons: 1 - it's a scooter club. 2 - it's a scooter club. Besides, the license bureau classified my bike as a motorcycle so I had to get plates and insurance. How handy that I work in an awesome insurance office! I called Lindsay here at Stuckey & Company and asked her to give me an insurance quote. Within a few minutes, she had submitted my information to a number of different carriers and found that I could save some cash if I changed my auto and homeowners so that all three policies were with the same carrier. What a nice surprise! Maybe I'll use the money that I saved and start my own club for misfit bikers and mid-life adventurers.
