Have you ever played at a Trivia Night? For those who don’t know what that is: it’s usually a fund raising event where tables of eight people pay approximately $20 each to come up with answers for 10 rounds of 10 trivia questions that are read over a loud speaker. Each table writes down their answers and then the judges tally up the scores. The table with the most correct answers wins cash. There are also silent auctions and raffles. Some have free beer and snacks. It’s a lot of fun! There are some tough questions like Final Jeopardy-level difficulty and there are some pop culture questions and off-the-wall questions like sniffing a spice and trying to guess what that spice is. Kyle’s family helps organize one every year to raise money for Autism education. Stuckey and Company got together a table and we found out that, collectively, we are kind of smart. Actually, I found out that I get smarter with each beer. Since I don’t consume much alcohol on a regular basis, my intelligence is limited to a maximum of 3 beers, then I just get plain stupid. I also realized that the subconscious is an amazing tool. For example, I don’t cook much (I can. I just don’t. I don’t know why it’s important to me that you know that.) Anyway, for me to guess a spice correctly would be like everybody begging to stay at work Friday at 5 o’clock, NOT going to happen without a miracle. But, after a couple of beers, my subconscious mind pulled up “rosemary” from the archives and it was the right answer!! I have never cooked with rosemary. I don’t even know a Rosemary. Where did that come from? I’m really looking forward to next year’s event. Bring on the dill weed!
