In The Office by Michele Lewis
Tomorrow night we're all piling in the bus and heading down to the Scottrade Center to cheer on our beloved Blues Hockey team as they pummel the Detroit Red Wings. A few years back we had Stuckey night at the Blues game. I think that was the last time that I've been to a hockey game. I remember my nose being cold and some very unsportman-like conduct, and that wasn't even counting the guys in the rink. Fans were "booo-ing" left and right from the safety of their seats. I'll bet they wouldn't "boo" the players if there wasn't any plexi-glass protection. Those guys are tough with a capital T. It's just amazing to me that, not only do they allow guys to beat the tar out of the other guys, but they encourage it and, I'm told the proper term for it is "checking". I think the proper term should be "afflicting". I may campaign to change that...Anyway, I don't remember any of us in the Stuckey group heckling the other team that night, but it was quite a while ago. I have a feeling we'll have a rowdy group this go-round. Chris Boylan tells me that nobody in St. Louis likes the Red Wings. I always thought our rivals were Chicago teams. But Chris tells me that the Blawkhawks are worthy of his "Benedict Arnold-esque" affection. I think Mary likes Chicago teams too, so we'll make sure they get seats together at the end of the row. Kyle tells me that the Blues are doing well this year. A couple of years ago, they almost had to give away tickets. I think it's all cyclical. Look at the Rams. On second thought, let's not open that can of worms.
